This lot includes 2 US M1874 infantry belts utilizing the M1872 rectangular belt plate with a “US” in oval in the center. / 1 US M1874 cavalry saber belt utilizing the M1872 rectangular belt plate with a “US” in oval in the center. / 1 US M1874 infantry belt utilizing the M1872 rectangular belt plate with “US” in the center. The belt features a rare experimental khaki cotton canvas slip-on sleeve, converting the belt to a cartridge belt. The sleeve facilitates the holding of 40 cartridges of 45/70 caliber. CONDITION: all belts are complete and show light overall wear with no notable damage. All belt plates are complete and functional. PROVENANCE: the collection of Edward Scott Meadows.
