Description
BILL FROM FRENCH ARTIST ROSA BONHUER. Diameter 2.5" open face steel body pocket watch, "Regulateur" on dial over image of steam engine train, green enameled numerals, beveled crystal with a decorated German silver bezel. The outside back cover has been removed and hinge filed. Presentation in script "Pour Cher Hon. Mssr. W.F. Cody / De Dame Rosa Bonheur" & "Paris / Avril 1889 / Merci". Rosa Bonheur (1822-1899) painted Cody on horseback which is owned by Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody WY. CONDITION: fair, chips and cracks in enamel face, as noted back cover has been purposely removed, mechanism appears complete, not checked to see if it will continue working. The presentation is well executed and all discerned with gray steel patina. Watch is housed in archival box with damaged 26" square gold & red decorated scarf with box label.
