This ex-libris folio represents a total of 54 plates - images from the design collection of Georges Hoentschel. Included are images of furniture, textiles interior and exterior architectural elements, and decor items many from Louis XVI France. Most likely a combination of two or more Hoentschel folios. 42 plates in b/w and color mounted on cardstock 12.5 x 18 inches, each marked on verso property of Ethel H. Traphagen. Some include pencil descriptions on verso. Most have printed descriptions in French below the image on the front. 12 plates b/w, various sizes mounted on card stock trimmed to 9.25 x 12.75 inches up to 11 x 14 inches, each with pencil descriptions of the image on verso. Condition: All plates have intact images, and age-related paper changes, handling, and use as reference materials are evident. Hoentschel was an interior decorator and a collector of medieval and eighteenth-century decorative art. Like his close friend Jean Carriès, he designed Art Nouveau ceramics and was the architect of the pavilion of the Union Centrale des Arts Décoratifs at the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle.
