A masterfully executed bucket made in 1898 in the city of Acayucan (spelled with an "m" on the piece) in the state of Veracruz, Mexico by silversmith Pereyra y Hermano for Juan Trifon. This heavy and solid piece is made from 128 troy ounces of 800 Silver and very ornately engraved with floral and circular patterns all over. The highlight is the massive handle made in the shape of overlaid snakes. This elegant piece measures approx. 9" high (11 1/2" with handle up) x 8 3/4" wide and weighs approximately 3,980 grams. It carries inscriptions stating the maker, owner, date, and location of manufacture. Very good antique condition with some patina according to age. All rivets are tight and the piece could still be used for another couple of hundred years. Very rare and decorative piece!
