Description
Gu Jingzhou (1915-1996), formerly known as Jingzhou. Nicknames: Manxi, Shouping, Wuling Yiren, Jingnan Shanqiao. They call themselves Husou and Laoping. A famous Yixing Zisha artist, a member of the Chinese Artists Association, and a master of Chinese arts and crafts. At the age of 18, he studied under famous teachers. In the late 1930s, he went to Shanghai to make antique pots. In 1954, he entered Yixing Shushan Ceramics Cooperative. In 1956, he was appointed as a technical instructor by the Jiangsu Provincial Government and tutored Xu Hantang, Gao Haigeng, Li Changhong, Shen Junhua, Shu Fengying, Wu Qunxiang and others. He participated in the National Arts and Crafts Congress three times in his life and had a great influence in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Southeast Asia. He was hailed as the "Master of Pot Art" at home and abroad. His works are collected by major museums and cultural relics halls at home and abroad.
