Potted in garlic bottle shape, bulbous lower belly, thick, with rounded shoulder, long cylindrical neck, with shrink on the neck middle to enlarge onion head shape, with slight short mouth rim, raised on short small round. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in white base color which contrast against blue color depicted of mandarin duck swims through flower and water plants. The Mandarin duck is so named because of its self importance and flamboyant plumage like the high officials yuan mandarins of the Imperial court. They are a popular motif on wedding gifts. A mandarin duck and a butterfly together signifies unrequited young love. The Upper-base bears a reign mark, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark. Made in The Years Wanli Reign Period of The Great Ming Dynasty.
