Chinese Qing Dynasty QianLong Blue and White Qilin Porcelain Double Ear Zun Vase. Potted in a Zun shaped vase, thick and large, a drum abdomen, short cylindrical neck, a pair of decorative handles called ears, and raised on ring foot base. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in white base color which contrast against blue color, depicted of flying mythical beast qilin through scrolling ruyi, flaming pearl , vapors and auspicious ornament. Qilin are extraordinarily beautiful creatures, sparkling like gems and adorned in flames. With their scaly bodies and horned heads, they resemble Chinese dragons, and their tails are like lion. Qilin are thought to be a symbol of luck, good omens, protection, prosperity, success, and longevity by the Chinese. Whatever their special attraction, they always move gracefully and dazzle the mortals who see them.The Under-base bears a reign mark, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark. Made in The Years QianLong Reign Period of The Great Qing Dynasty.
