An alluring glass vase, attributed to Quezal Art Glass and Decorating Company, a firm founded by two former employees of Louis Comfort Tiffany's glassworks, Martin Bach and Thomas Johnson, and named for one of the world's most beautiful birds, the elusive and rare quetzal. Using the same method of manufacture practiced at the Tiffany factory, the company made artistic ware with pulled and applied decoration of lustrous iridescence and vibrant colors, inspired by the feathers of the quetzal. Lentoid in form with a rectangular rim, this vase boasts a forest green-hued feather design pulled from the bottom and outlined by a thick band of gold-toned glass, all against a pearly white ground that extends to the rim.
