Description
British General officer's sword, 1860 – 1901. Reverse ricasso signed: MARSHALL JERMYN ST. LONDON., double acid etched curved blade with wide fuller on each side. Queen’s Crown over VR Cypher (Victoria Regina) and scrolled leaf ornament etched on one side (within Arabesque panel) and on the other side with Queen’s Crown over crossed baton over sword (insignia of British General Officers). Gold (or golden) Proof Mark within the etched Damascus Star on the obverse ricasso. Gothic six-branch knuckle bow, sharkskin wrapped wood grip with brass retaining wires intact. Stepped oval pommel cap. Complete with acorn-shaped bullion thread sword knot. Very good overall, noting excellent blade, and some dents in the scabbard.
