Description
A large Chinese bronze ritual vessel (Ding), dating from the Easter Zhou dynasty (771-256 BCE). Over three flared, narrow tripod feet the large Ding has rings of archaistic cloud symbols incised into the bronze. A slight rounded cover, also with circles of symbols, has three round fixed rings for lifting and a central ring as well. Two rectangular handles rise from the sides, also with incised symbols.
