Large carved quartersawn oak box fitted with a Gorham sterling silver vanity, or grooming set. Box is dated 1902 on the back panel, and beautifully decorated with hand carved winged lions, griffin and dolphins. There is a single-letter monogram with the initial “B” carved within a keystone on the front panel. Gorham pattern is of blossoming “spring snow” crabapple flowers. Marked on nail buffer with Gorham “Lion, Anchor & G” mark and “Sterling, 3 & Star (1888 date mark)”. Includes working skeleton key.
