Description
Northwest coast, Alaska and Canada, box 20th century, teeth fossilized pre-historic. Black box appearing like argillite but made of some form of hybrid resin, ground stone with killer whale on lid of box and mask; animal faces represented on the exterior. On the inside of the box is a collection of 59 fossilized whale teeth and walrus ivory tusk tips. Many of the teeth show hollow root cavity. Most of these appear to be small whales, dolphins, seals, or other mammals. An interesting group. Size of box: 5" L x 3.875" W x 3.75" H (12.7 cm x 9.8 cm x 9.5 cm).
