FABERGE, AN IMPORTANT IMPERIAL JEWELLED GOLD MOUNTED CARVED OBSIDIAN MODEL OF A CARRIER PIGEON, ST PETERSBURG, CIRCA 1907 naturalistically carved as a carrier pigeon, with its head tilted to one side in an inquisitive pose, the eyes set with rose cut diamonds, standing on finely chased gold feet and legs, apparently unsigned, within its original Faberge wooden case containing a handwritten note in English: From Olga of Russia Xmas 1907 Length: 5.0cm (2 inches) Provenance - Gifted by Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna of Russia (1882-1960), to her aunt, Princess Thyra of Denmark, Duchess of Cumberland, for Christmas 1907. - Sotheby's, London, Imperial and Royal Presents, 24 November 2008, lot 99 (GBP £61,250). - Private UK collection. - Acquired by the present owner from Andre Ruzhnikov, August 2020.
