Medicine.- Tuson (Edward William) A Supplement to Myology; containing the Arteries, Veins, Nerves, and Lymphatics of the Human Body, first edition, 9 hand-coloured lithographs with many flaps, one flap detached and loosely inserted, 1828, bound before, The Anatomy and Surgery of Inguinal and Femoral Hernia, first edition, 3 hand-coloured lithographs with many flaps, one with short tear and no loss, 1834, together 2 works bound as 1, letterpress descriptions, chipping and small losses to margins, occasionally touching text, scattered spotting and staining, most detached, contemporary calf, prize binding stamped in gilt and presented by Tuson to one of his pupils, lacking backstrip, boards detached, rubbed and worn, bumping and scorching to corners, folio.*** Edward William Tuson (1802-65), began lecturing in anatomy after qualifying as a surgeon. He initially lectured from Gerrard Street in Soho, before moving to premises in Little Windmill Street. This book appears to have been a prize given to one of Tuson's Little Windmill Street students. The text on the binding reads, "Theatre of Anatomy. Little Windmill Street. This prize was awarded to Mr. R. E. Gaye. for the diligence & perseverance with which he cultivated the Study of Anatomy April 30 1834, Edw, Wm. Tuson."
