Artist: after Pascal-Adolphe-Jean Dagnan-Bouveret (1852 – 1929)
Etcher: Eugène André Champollion (1848-1901)
Publisher: George C. Virtue (1794 – 1868)
In good condition. Light spots due to age that can be seen in the image.
Pascal-Adolphe-Jean Dagnan-Bouveret (7 January 1852 – 3 July 1929), was one of the leading French artists of the naturalist school.
Eugène André Champollion (1848-1901), etcher; pupil of both Edmond Hédouin and Léon Gaucherel.
George C. Virtue (1794 – 1868) was a 19th-century London-based publisher. In 1848, Virtue purchased two magazines. One was an art publication, The Art Union, which had been founded in 1839 by Hodgson & Graves, then purchased in 1847 by Chapman & Hall. The second purchase was controlling interest in Sharpe's London Magazine, a literary and cultural magazine, Arthur Hall publisher. In 1849, Virtue renamed the art magazine The Art Journal and, in time, it became known as the premier art publication of Great Britain.
