Cape Charles, Virginia, circa 1986, carved and painted wood, inlet head, carved eyes, each signed in pen E.J. 'PETE' PETERSON / CAPE CHARLES, VA / 1986 and branded PETE on bottom.
Longest length 12 in.
Peterson is widely considered one of the finest living decoy makers. He has a style of his own. This early pair of redheads are influenced by those made on Hog Island in Northampton County, Virginia.
