Description
Treva James Burton (Oraibi, Arizona, Third Mesa, Hopi Pueblo, b. 1929), ca. mid to late 20th century CE; signed on base. A hand-built pottery bowl in the shape of a thick-breasted duck. The raised head is adorned with concentric circle eyes and a thick beak while the body exhibits dense red and black motifs that resemble the animal's feathers. The base is signed "Old Oraibi, ARIZ | T. Burton Hopi" along with 2 petite symbols in black. Size: 8.75" L x 5.75" W x 6.2" H (22.2 cm x 14.6 cm x 15.7 cm)
