Item Details
Description
MOREAU, Mathurin, (French 1822-1912): Patinated bronze peasant girl returning from the market with basket of groceries under one arm, chicken in other hand, signed on base, stamped number 3102, affixed to wood plinth, 20.5" h. x 7" base dia. Condition: Uneven patina. From Duck & Dolphin antiques in Key West, Florida. Paul Cox (1941-2019) was the driving force behind Duck & Dolphin Antiques, started his treasured collection in Manhattan in 1963. He would eventually move his shop several times through New Jersey, the new Hope Pennsylvania area, and finally Key West Florida. He saw many styles and movements come and go. There was not one he was not an enthusiast of. Growing up in the era of “populux,” he got his start as a dealer in the art nouveau revival of the 1960s under the tutelage of the great Lillian Nassau. He went on to dealing in the highest quality of French period antiques.
