Description

Rare British issued model 1896 mountain artillery sword by Robert Mole, dated 1897. Rarer of the two models of this sword, only 450 of these British issue were made with a steel D guard hilt. turned wood grip. 29.5" blade well marked at ricasso with arrow over "MOLE BIRMN" over crown and inspector initial. Other side marked '97 and inspector marks. Ribbed brown leather scabbard with brass mounts. Older collector tags attached to guard and frog on scabbard. Overall 36" long. Condition: wear to grip, blade with cleaning scratches and minor peppering. Scabbard with chips to leather surface.
