Description
Nanaka, Toropalca, Dept of Potosi, C. 1870-1900. Woman's mantle of two loom panels of warp faced wool fiber. The community at Toropalca perfected the aesthetic of color field weaving in proportion and color blending most often preferring to pair a deep maroon with a shade of overdyed black. The textile fineness coupled with the best achievement of color proportion and execution distinguish the best examples of this art. Size: 5'9" x 3'7" (147 x 109 cm).
