Description
An early 20th century Dutch export silver caddy, of elliptical form, the hinged, flat lid with pierced gallery to top, embossed with scene depicting the siege of Haarlem 1573, with conforming, twin-opposed text to each side. Hallmarked Samuel Boyce (or Boaz) Landeck, Chester import 1903 with Foreign mark, also stamped with Dutch letter date for 1903. Height 9cm, weight 5.4ozt (168.8g).
Condition Report:- Item shows general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing.
- Piercing to gallery border is quite bent and bashed to areas.
- Hinged lid is in good working condition, lifting and fitting onto rim well.
- Edges to elliptical form appear quite uneven, one with some possible repairs, and some areas appear bumpy and compressed.
- Text is rubbed but still legible.
- Hallmarks are clear and legible.
