Description
A George III small silver box, of oval hinged form with monogrammed heart cartouche beneath engraved arrow motifs, hallmarked Samuel Pemberton, Birmingham, date letter obscured possibly 1798, width measures 2.8 cm. Together with a caddy spoon, modelled in the form of a shovel with engraved patterns and initialled terminal, maker's mark only for Samuel Pemberton. (2). Weight 9.1g.
Condition Report:- In good overall condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.
- The small box was possibly a vinaigrette which is missing the grille, the box shuts fully flush, the interior base is heavily tarnished, remnants of polish visible.
- Hallmarks to the hinged lid only, date letter obscured possibly 1798, other hallmarks slightly worn but legible.
- The caddy spoon is engraved with a 'B' to the terminal, some minor bumps to the bowl, maker's mark only for Samuel Pemberton to the back of the terminal.
