GOLD and SILVER with RUBY RUSSIAN PICTURE FRAME PORCELAIN MOTHER of GOD and MONOGRAM of TSAR ALEXANDER II
For your consideration, we present a rare and exquisite Russian gold and silver photo frame featuring a PORCELAIN picture of the Mother of God and the monogram of Tsar Alexander II.
HALLMARKS: '56' for gold content, '84' for silver standard, kokoshnik, ‘JA' in Cyrillic for Karl Gustav Hjalmar Armfeldt for FABERGÉ firm, St. Petersburg, 1908-1917 - please see information below.
PROVENANCE: 1. From a private Russian collector in Germany, 1955-2021; 2. Galerie Moenius AG, Eastern church and Asian art and varia, October 28, 2023, Berlin, Germany (the winner will receive this information); 3. HISTORY of SALES: A few years ago, picture frames were sold on Live Auctioneers and Christie's auctions for $19,500 (8 years ago), $20,000 (9 years ago), $33,250 (7 years ago), and $54,500 (14 years ago) - please refer to the screenshots for details. Today, prices have significantly increased compared to those of 5-10 years ago.
WARRANTY: The buyer has 3 days to inspect items for originality, valued at up to $5,000, and 5 days for items valued at $5,000 or more. Items can be returned to the seller for a refund; please refer to the Terms for more details.

HJALMAR ARMFELT: Karl Gustaf Hjalmar Armfelt was a Finnish silversmith and Fabergé workmaster. Born in Artjarvi, Finland 6 April 1873. In 1886, at age 13, he was apprenticed to the Finnish silversmith Paul Sohlman (1898-1904) in St.Petersburg at 42 Gorohovaya Street. He became a journeyman in 1891. He studied at the art school for five years until 1894. He worked as FABERGÉ's workmaster beginning in 1895, and used the mark YA in Cyrillic. Hjalmar Armfelt also worked under the silversmith Antti (Anders) Nevalainen and became his closest assistant in 1901. He became a master in 1904 and was given the exclusive opportunity to buy the workshop of Johan Victor Aarne. Armfelt produced objects for FABERGÉ until 1916, working on projects like those of Johan Viktor Aarne, like tiny gem-set frames, silver-mounted birchwood frames, hardstone frames, gem-set enameled gold articles and silver figures on hardstone base.
