**Originally Listed At $400**
Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Teotihuacan, ca. 200 to 600 CE. A miniature pottery double chambered vessel known as a candelero with incised decoration. Similar jars have been studied and their funciton is not fully understood, but they seem to have been personal braziers used for burning ritual incense made from copal and they are often found in the context of burials. Size: 2" L x 1.25" W x 1.75" H (5.1 cm x 3.2 cm x 4.4 cm)
Provenance: private Massachusetts, USA collection of Kahlil and Jean Gibran. Kahlil Gibran (1922-2008, also known as Kahlil George Gibran) was a successful mid-20th century Magic Realist painter and sculptor.
