**Originally Listed At $250**

Pacific, Hawaiian Islands, ca. late 20th century CE, signed "Dan Kurtz." A hand-carved coconut shell cup of a spherical form bearing smooth, sanded exterior and interior surfaces. Beneath the coconut body is a lathe-turned koa wood pedestal foot engraved on the bottom with "Koa & Coconut" as well as "Dan Kurtz." The top rim of the coconut is topped with a koa wood lid with a discoid body centered by a conical, openwork handle. Size (w/ lid): 5.3" W x 7.875" H (13.5 cm x 20 cm)

Provenance: private Newport Beach, California, USA collection, bought in the 1980s in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA

Condition
Very light abrasions to coconut body, lid, and foot, otherwise intact and excellent. Great smooth surfaces throughout. Inscribed signature beneath foot is still legible.
