Rare Hotel Mamounia, Marrakech, Morocco Art Deco Parquetry Column in rare woods and walnut burl; from the original furnishings for the 1928-29 opening. Height 42 1/2 inches (108 cm.) X diameter at top 13 inches (33 cm.) X base diameter 17 inches (43 cm.). NOTE: Consistently named as one of the best hotels in the world, with Conde Nast Traveler calling it "The Best," the original architects Henri Prost and Antoine Marchisio combined Moroccan craft with the finest Art Deco designs from Leleu and others for the ultimate in luxury. PROVENANCE: Purchased from Karl Kemp & Associates Antiques, NYC; to the Property of a New York Businessman & Collector relocating to Monte Carlo.
