Title: Typed Letter, signed, regarding the use of one his poems in a college reader
Description:
Typed Letter, signed, on Toledo State Hospital letterhead. 5¾x8¾".
Paul Laurence Dunbar (1872–1906) was an African-American poet, novelist, and playwright of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Much of his popular work in his lifetime used a Negro dialect, which helped him become one of the first nationally-accepted African-American writers. In the present letter he grants permission to use one of his poems in a college reader to William Mather Lewis of Illinois College.
