Description
Hank Ballard's "Work With Me Annie" Cashbox Award for The Best Rhythm and Blues Record of 1954. Unique and prestigious award from the recording industry's leading magazine of the 1950s presented to Federal Records "In Behalf Of The Automatic Music Industry of America". This song was recorded by Hank Ballard and the Midnighters in January 1954 and released a month later. The F.C.C. was immediately opposed to it because of its overtly sexual lyrics. Of course, the controversy did nothing but make people want to buy the record and it spent seven weeks at the top of the R&B charts. This heavy marble-based statuette is 15.5" tall x 4" x 3" at the base. Some light dings and wear, in overall fine condition.
