Description
Two WWII U. S. Navy Navigational Instruments
the first a marine chronometer by the Hamilton Watch Company, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the dial dated 1941 with serial number 7559, the clock seated under glass in its original mahogany case having printed instructions pasted inside the lid, said to have been used on the U.S.S. "HIll" (7.25 x 7.5 x 9 in.) (not guaranteed to run; water stains to label; scratches to steel collar surrounding the dial); the second is a Pioneer/Bendix Mark 2 Model O E. T. S. sextant, serial number 28149, dated 1943, in its original dovetail mahogany veneer carrying case, with a Collimation Certificate from the U. S. Naval Observatory, December 4, 1944 and a repair tag from the following day (Case 5.5 x 11.5 x 11 in.) (The sextant appears to be in very good condition; the case is moderately scuffed with substantial veneer loss.).

Verbal history is that the sextant was used aboard the U.S.S. California after she was repaired following the Pearl Harbor attack.
