Description
Group of 7 coin silver spoons, Athens, Tennessee. Includes 2 fiddle pattern teaspoons marked "Sehorn" in rectangle with additional eagle marks (attributed to William Sehorn of Athens, 1842-d. 1876), and 1 fiddle pattern teaspoon marked Sehorn with sunburst or paterae marks (attributed to William Sehorn or his brother George Sehorn, working 1825-1840 in Athens/McMinn County), 5-3/4" to 6-3/8" L. Also included are 4 tablespoons with fiddle swell handles and worn, illegible makers' marks with the word "Athens" in rectangles, having faint script "G" monograms, 8-3/4" L. Combined weight 7.12 oz troy. Provenance: Estate of Bill Selden, Athens, TN. Note: See "Tennessee Silversmiths" by Dr. Benjamin H. Condition
Minor bends and minor dents in some bowls of spoons. Wear to ends of bowls. One bend in handle of one Sehorn teaspoon.
