1842 - 1861, Birmingham, the urn with ''Elkington Mason & Co Publishers'' shield mark, the pedestal stamped ''Pub'd by Elkington Mason & Co'', in two parts, the urn with a removable pierced, domed latticework cover with a central opening holding a removable cylindrical liner, over a hemispherical body decorated in high relief with berry vines beneath a beaded border, flanked by pierced handles, on a socle with a palmette border; the square pedestal with foliate borders, engraved to two sides with an heraldic crest with the motto ''Furor Arma Ministrat'' (Rage Provides Arms), overall: 15'' H x 12.25'' W x 7.25'' D, est: $1000/1500
Condition
Overall good condition. General scratches, marks and tarnishing commensurate with age and use. Polish residue to crevices. Scattered fleabite-sized dings. The cover and liner unmarked.
