designed by Pierre-Emile Jeannest (French, 1813-1857) for Elkington, Mason & Co., Birmingham

Each impressed PUBD BY ELKINGTON, MASON & CO and Jeannest / Fecit.
height 17 3/4in (45cm); width 11in (28cm); depth 7in (18cm)

Property from the Collection of Craig Wright.

Footnote:
he French modeller Pierre-Emile Jeannest (1813-1857) worked for both Minton and Elkington. At the Great Exhibition of 1851, held at the Crystal Palace in Hyde Park, London, his works for Elkington was praised by the Jury.

Elkington & Co, known as Elkington, Mason & Co between 1842 and 1861, was one of the most important silver and silver-plate manufacturers of the 19th Century in Great Britain. Based in Birmingham, the firm gained an international reputation and received Royal recognition for their highly prized works.

Condition

Very nicely modelled and detailed. General marks, scratches, rubbing, tarnishing and wear. With some stress cracks or seams to bases of large leaves.
