A pair of Qianlong Chinese export silver gilt filigree pedestal vases and covers , unmarked, late 18th century, the domed covers and ovoid bodies decorated overall with filigree flowers, foliage and fruit, all on a tight scroll net-like ground, the stems with ball knops and on octagonal bases with fret work edges and feet, 15.5cm (6in) high, 286g (9.2 oz) A number of similarly worked pieces are illustrated in 'Silver Wonders from the East: Filigree of the Tsars', the catalogue of the 2006 exhibition at the Hermitage Amsterdam.
