Rare and Fine Stoneware Pitcher with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "HARRISBURG PA," probably William Moyer, circa 1858, ovoid pitcher with pronounced rim molding, the front decorated with a large flowering plant bearing three tulip blossoms. Impressed below spout with early "HARRISBURG. PA" maker's mark, often attributed to William Moyer. Additional cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Pitcher measures approximately five quarts. A visually-appealing example of early Harrisburg stoneware. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, recently found in Pennsylvania. Two chips and a minor nick to top of rim. Three chips to bottom edge of rim molding. 3 3/4" hairline from rim on side of pitcher. H 11 1/2".
