Original Frank Harmon Meyers California Marine Seascape Oil Painting 1940 with Provenance
Frank H. Meyers seacoast oil on canvas board titled Surf Near Carmel Calif. of crashing surf and rocks from the collection of a man, who as a child in the 1940 accompanied his father on a cross country trip to visit the young man’s uncle, the mayor of Carmel, CA. The mayor was a personal friend of Meyers and obtained this painting for his father. It’s been in his family ever since – over 70 years!
Signed lower right Frank H. Meyers with title verso to paper backing; Surf near Carmel Calif.

Meyers was most widely celebrated as a painter of seascapes. A series of articles by him on Painting the Seas, accompanied by reproductions of his work was published in London in the monthly magazine The Artist, in 1951.
The painting is accompanied by a Carmel California newspaper biographical obituary clipping published March 8, 1956.Approximate Dimensions: Canvas board measures approximately 17 inches high by 23 inches wide within gray washed wood molding approximately 22 3/8 inches high by 28 1/2 inches wide by 1 5/8 inches deep.
