Item Details
Description
painted and lithographed paper on wood which emulates brick, block, and 3 dimensional half timber construction; This is among the larger houses by Gottschalk and is a great survivor in surprising condition considering it was made prior to World War I after which Gottschalk made the switch from blue roofs to red. The opening sides reveal two rooms each with original wall papers and in one room a staircase with wire railing. The small porch has turned wood columns and decorative metal railings which repeat on the upper balcony which also has an identical opening door as that on the porch. This example is pictured and described on pages 222-223 of Antique Dolls' Houses, Flora Gill Jacobs © 2005. Base has Gottschalk ink stamp and pencil numbered 3583. The furnishings from this house as assembled by Mrs. Jacobs will be sold in the next lot.
