Description
Four Piece American Rococo Revival Ebonized Carved Rosewood Parlor Suite, 19th c., attributed to Prudent Mallard (New Orleans, 1809-1879), consisting of a settee and three side chairs, each with foliate carved crests with central cabochon medallion and flowers, over oval backs, to bowed seats, on cabriole legs, now in red damask fabric, Settee- H.- 45 in., W.- 72 in., D.- 37 in.
Condition
Condition consistent with age. One side chair with an apparent professional patch to the back leg. The left side of the sofa has minor joint separation at the armrest and at two joints on the back; the right side of the sofa is observed with a mild separation of the applied scrolled carving. The suite is noted with a very mild scuffing throughout. A lovely suite.
