Late Victorian Carved Rosewood Square Parlor Piano, late 19th c., Boston, by Woodward & Brown, the curved square top opening to a gilt and floral painted sounding board, on carved cabriole legs, joined by a beaded serpentine apron, with 85 keys, H.- 37 3/4 in., W.- 80 3/4 in., D.- 39 1/2 in.
Condition
Condition consistent with age and use. The top has some expected slight wear. The music rack is noted with a small break to the pierced carving near center. Hammers function with ease for all keys but the first E, and this piano is not tuned. The sounding board is observed with dust debris. The body has notable wear and some minor losses to the applied carving; the legs with some scratches and dents, and one foot with loss to the carving. A timeless piece.
