Theodore Parker (1810-1860) Clergyman. Parker was a Transcendentalist, theologian, scholar, Unitarian minister, abolitionist, and social reformer. In his vigorous challenge to religious dogmatism, his tireless (and fearless) anti-slavery stance, and his fight for women’s rights, he was years, decades, ahead of his time. The book, The Trial of Theodore Parker: With the Defence by Theodore Parker, Theodore Parker, 1855, signed on the first blank page, “Charles Ellis with the Regards of his Friend Theo Parker Nov 1, 1855.†The spine and cover show wear, overall very good. The book is contained in a custom green-cloth covered clamshell case with the title, Parker Defence printed on the spine in gilt.
