Jabbitt III. Jabbitt III was the name of a B-29 Superfortress participating in the atomic bomb attack on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. Assigned to the 393d Bomb Squadron, 509th Composite Group, this plane flew as the advance weather B29, reporting the weather over Kokura, Japan to the B29 Enola Gay. The Atomic Bomb had to be dropped visually, If Hiroshima was cloud covered then Kokura would have been the target. This crew was ordered to return to the United States to pick up components for a 3rd Atomic Bomb. 7†x 5†black and white photograph of Jabbitt III, signed by Glen Flowerree, Ellsworth T. Carrington, Paul W. Gruning, James W. Davis, Charles J. Baker and Ken L. Baxter. Included an 8†x 10†copy of the August 9, 1945 orders.
