Apollo-Soyuz. The Apollo–Soyuz Test Project in July 1975, was the first joint American.–Soviet space flight, and the last Apollo mission. Its primary purpose was as a symbol of the policy of détente that the two superpowers were pursuing at the time, and marked the end of the Space Race between them that began in 1957. ½†x 1 ½†flown gold fragment of Kapton tape which was affixed to the command module during the flight. The souvenir is affixed to an 8 ½†x 11†descriptive card with certification from space collector Ken Havekotte.
