Harlem Globetrotters Hall of Fame Members: Reece “Goose†Tatum (1921-1967), Marques Haynes (1926- ) and William “Pop†Gates (1917-1999) Harlem Globetrotters. Tatum played Negro League Baseball before becoming a star basketball player with the Harlem Globetrotters. He is considered to be the original “clown prince†of the Trotters. He wove numerous comic routines into his play, of which many would reach cult status. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2011. Haynes was notable for his remarkable ability to dribble the ball and keep it away from defenders. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1998. Gates playing college basketball at Clark Atlanta University, he continued his basketball career in New York City with the Harlem Renaissance, for several years beginning in 1938–39. He became one of the early black players in the NBL in 1946. Later he played for and coached the Harlem Globetrotters. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1989. 8 ½†x 11†page with the “Professional Rules†of basketball , signed in pencil by Tatum with a 2 ¾†x 1 ¾†cut pencil signature of Haynes affixed. With a 3 ¾†x 7 ¼ black and white photograph signed by Gates.
