Ken Kesey's re-examination of the famous coast-to-coast road trip taken by Kesey and the Merry Pranksters. This copy is signed by 7 Counterculture thinkers, artists, and others involved with the Merry Pranksters. Autographs include: Chet Helms, who also inscribed it "I missed the bus..." (founder of The Family Dog, one of two premier promoters in SF, friend/promoter of Janis Joplin), Ken Kesey (author of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest), Paul Krassner (co-founder in 1968 of the Yippies, or Youth International Party, political street theatre, father of the underground press, Merry Prankser, founder publisher of investigative journalism/satirical magazine The Realist), Mountain Girl (Ken Kesey's lover, Merry Prankster, Jerry Garcia's wife for many years, real name Carolyn Adams), Wavy G[ravy] (founder of the Hog Farm Commune, Counterculture poet), Eileen Kaufman (wife of the Beat poet Bob Kaufman), George Walker, Ken Babbs (Ken Kesey's dear friend, right-hand man, they were inseparable, Merry Prankster), and Pat Monahan (Merry Prankster). Also on the rear free endpaper, Wavy G. signed again, with an inscription: "They say Kesey's dead but never trust a pranskter even underground." A beautiful production with vibrant photograph illustrations.
