A marvelous ivory cane of a semi-nude goddess. The ivory handle is 5 1/8” high and 1 3/4” at its widest. The top half depicts a lovely goddess with her hair tied in back with a bow, and its long curly ends trailing down her back. In a provocative pose, her crossed arms allow her delicate robe to open showing a bare breast. The bottom half of the handle is carved in intricate leaves and roses, finishing with a thin ringed base. The shaft is tan malacca that terminates with a 1 2/3” burnished brass ferrule. The overall length is 36” and the condition is excellent. It is perhaps English, ca 1890, and it is a beautiful example from the Vertical Art Collection™.
