A beautiful totoiseshell cane with jewels. The polished tortoiseshell bec de corbin handle is 2 1/8” high and 1 1/4” at its widest. It is inlaid with a myriad of cabochon stones of various sizes, set in gold vines and bezels. There are citrines, garnets or rubies, amethysts, jade, and turquoise, all placed in various gold settings with some stones that mimic leaves, flowers, and vines. The result is an outstanding visual presentation. There is a 1/3” gold collar on a shaft of ebony ending with a 1” dark horn ferrule. The overall length is 36 1/3” and the condition is excellent. It is perhaps Continental, ca 1890, and it is a fabulous decorative example from the Vertical Art Collection™. Per the consignor, the proceeds are to benefit the Bonnie J.
