Item Details

Description

A very nice staghorn monkey/jockey cane. The staghorn “L” handle is 1 3/4” high and 3 1/4” to the side. It depicts a nicely detailed monkey with white sulfide eyes wearing a jockey’s cap with a long brim. There is a 1” plated brass collar on a hardwood shaft decorated as faux snakewood. There are raised black horn round eyelets that hold a worn, woven silk wrist-cord with adjustable black horn fittings. A 3/4” worn brass ferrule completes the piece. The overall length is 37 1/4” and the condition is very good. It is perhaps English, ca 1895, and it is quite an amusing figural example. Estimate: $550-$750
