A European Folk Art cane of a sea captain. Made of a single piece of dark hardwood, it has a handle that is 2 1/8” high and 1 7/8” at it widest. It depicts a 19th Century sea captain with moustache and beard. He is wearing a cap with visor. The sides are decorated in relief with large fancy initials, human figures and faces, animals, birds, and fish randomly presented. The piece ends with a 2 3/4” rusted iron ferrule. The overall length is 34 1/2” and the condition is very good with rub damage to the sea captain’s nose. It is ca 1890 and it is a very good example that was extensively used. Estimate: $650-$850
