A very nice ivory dog with basket cane. The walrus ivory “L” handle is 4 1/4” high and 3 1/2” to the side. On the stem, carved in high relief, the head of a hound dog holding a basket of flowers is depicted. The dog has black bead eyes and the scene is nicely detailed. There is a 1/2” lined silver collar on a dark, exotic tropical wood shaft that terminates with a 1 1/2” white metal and iron ferrule. The overall length is 35 2/3” and the condition is very good. It is probably American, ca 1890, and it is a fine example of the type. Estimate: $900-$1300
