Description
The horn and silver cane of J.H. Cutter, whiskey merchant from Louisville, Kentucky. The horn knob handle is 1” high and 1” in diameter. It is overlaid on top with a 7/8” round silver disc that is engraved: “J. H. Cutter, Louisville, Ky.”. ( Mr J. H. Cutter owned a whiskey manufacturing company in Louisville under the name of J. H. Cutter and Co. He and his partner a Mr. Moorman, made and sold fine whiskey between 1857 and 1860. They earned a very good national reputation for the quality of their excellent Kentucky bourbon. Please see Google for more information.) There is a thin silver ring collar on macassar ebony shaft with a 1 1/2” aged bimetal ferrule. The overall length is 35 1/3” and the condition is very good. It is ca 1860 and it is a fine example of the kind. Estimate: $450-$650
