A very nice English wooden folk art pen-work cane. The plain dark mahogany knob handle is 1 1/2” high and 1 1/3” across the top. The lighter hardwood shaft is done in various pen-work depictions for its entire length. Salient features are a caricature of two people at the top, along with various fish, lots of different birds, various bugs and insects, a royal crown, British bunting, and the ship “Victoria” (so denoted), that may have been a reference to Magellan’s vessel. Just under the handle a presentation: “ Poad to Bud”, is inscribed in ink. The overall length is 34 1/3” and the condition is very good. It is English, ca 1885 and it is a great example of amateur pen-work artistry in a fine cane. Estimate: $850-$1250
